Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. Mine was beyond amazing. Mind-blowing fantastic! All day Thursday I cooked a variety of delicious vegan meals made from scratch. There was Sangria, grains meatloaf, side dishes and my gluten-free desserts that featured cupcakes and a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Everything was so delicious. My mom, sister and nephew came over and we had a blast!
For years, I condemned Black Friday and refused to participate in this troubling pattern of rampant consumerism. For all I cared, that was the day I avoided shopping at all costs. I mean, who enjoys shopping at night, waiting in long lines to get to the store, fighting with crazy shoppers or learning your item sold out right before you got there? No, thank you!
This Thanksgiving, my perception changed forever. I’ve been eyeing the KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Mixer for a while but the steep $450 price tag was too high. When I saw it at my local Kohl’s store last week, I knew the timing was perfect to get it on Black Friday so I can save as much as possible. For the first time in my life, the reasons that kept me away on Black Friday did not matter. All I wanted was that mixer.
As soon as the clock hit midnight, mom and I drove off eagerly to get my coveted item. Madness and frenzy are understatements as to what we saw when we arrived at the store. But nothing bothered me as I snatched my mixer and a few items and waited patiently for 30 minutes to check out. Before you dismiss me as crazy, wait to hear the final price I paid. Are you ready???
