The Courage to Love

It’s said that the two most important things to a human being are love and appreciation. They are the air and water to our souls…they are the color in the picture of our lives…and they are the building stones of our happiness. To receive love and appreciation is easy. To give them to another takes strength and courage. Author C. S. Lewis has a great quote I would like to share with you:

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket — safe, dark, motionless, airless — it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”

Hope you continue to give out your love despite the heartbreaks, disappointments and betrayals. Perhaps the only way we can mend a broken heart is by knowing that our love can NEVER be taken away.
